Portraits of an abstract painter in her studio in Lisbon
This is Anna Rolskaya, an abstract painter living and working in Lisbon. She invited me to her studio to create a series of portraits for her Studio Interview.
Seeing Anna’s paintings in person was incredibly inspiring. Large canvases filled with colour, movement and layers of texture surrounded us in the studio, creating a vibrant and intimate atmosphere for the portrait session.
Photographing artists in their own workspace is always a special experience for me. The studio holds traces of the creative process — brushes, paint, unfinished canvases, colours on the floor — and all of this becomes part of the portrait. It allows the photographs to show not only the person, but also the world they create.
