Lisbon travel photoshoot for a family of six

Chris and his family came to Lisbon for their holidays and decided to capture this trip with a family photoshoot in the city. Travelling with four children, they were a family of six — which can be a bit of a challenge for a city session, especially if we want the photographs to feel natural and relaxed.

We chose to start early in the morning, when the streets of Lisbon are still quiet and the city slowly wakes up. We walked through the streets and after the walk we took a little break on the square with traditional pastéis de nata and other pastries, before catching one of Lisbon’s iconic yellow trams that took us up to the beautiful São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint.

The family chose their outfits themselves, and I love how beautifully the soft blue tones work with the traditional Portuguese azulejos and the warm colours of Lisbon’s streets.

For me, travel photography sessions like this are about more than portraits — they are about the experience of being somewhere together: exploring a new city, sharing small moments, and turning a family trip into lasting memories.
