From the campervan to the cliffs: sunset family story on the Atlantic Coast

Sometimes families feel a little nervous before a photoshoot, especially when there is a bit of logistics involved. But in reality, these sessions often turn out to be the most relaxed and memorable ones.

Olga and her family were traveling across Portugal in a campervan, slowly making their way from the north to the south of the country. One day during their journey they decided to stop for a family photoshoot, and we chose a very special location — Cabo Espichel, about 30 km south of Lisbon.

Cabo Espichel is not as famous as Cabo da Roca, but it has its own magic. Dramatic cliffs, endless ocean views and — most importantly — wind. Lots of wind. You may notice in the photos how a sweater gradually appears on the little boy — that was the Cabo Espichel weather in action. Everything the family needed was right there in their campervan, which made it easy to adapt to the situation. If you ever plan to visit Cabo Espichel, I definitely recommend bringing something warm with you, even in summer (in our case it was August).

For me, sessions like this are the essence of travel family photography in Portugal — a mix of adventure, spontaneous moments, and the beauty of the Portuguese coast.

And there was one more sweet moment waiting at the end of our session. Mom and dad had prepared a small surprise for their son, which they gave him right after the photoshoot. On the last photo you can see how excited he is about his gift — and to me it felt like the perfect final note of our little photo adventure.
